Witnesses of the incident reported that a vehicle described as a dark-colored (possibly green) station wagon with two kayaks or canoes on the roof drove by a residence several times. The occupants of the station wagon stopped in a parking lot across the street and exited the vehicle. Both of the people in the vehicle were described as white males, one was about 5-foot-5 inches tall with long “scruffy” hair wearing a gray tank top and black shorts.

The second man had “longer scruffy hair” but no other physical or clothing description was given.

One of the two men produced a handgun, either tan or silver, possibly equipped with a red laser sight on it. He postured with the handgun, pointing it at the ground, but did not point it at anyone. Both men yelled at the residents at 377 South Main St. and a short time later, three or four gunshots were heard, and the station wagon fled north on South Main Street., then east on Granite Street, but was lost sight of in the area of Canal Street.

A spent shell casing was located in the area of South Main Street.
