Police investigate report of drive-by gunfire on Beacon Street

MANCHESTER, NH — Police have collected shell casings as part of an investigation into reports of someone shooting from passenger side of a black car spotted in the area of Beacon and Merrimack streets early Monday morning.

On January 16, 2017 at approximately 11 a.m. officers were dispatched to the area of Beacon and Merrimack after a resident found several shell casings on the ground.

screen-shot-2017-01-16-at-5-25-09-pmInvestigating officers learned from canvassing that at approximately 1:10 a.m. several residents heard the sound of multiple gunshots, however police were not contacted at that time to report the gunshots.  One resident told police they had seen a black vehicle traveling east on Merrimack Street while a passenger was firing an unknown type of firearm from the car window. It was not known if there was a target of the gunfire.

During a subsequent search of the scene officers located additional shell casings in the same area as the shell casings located by the initial caller.
