MANCHESTER, NH — At about 4:25 a.m. on May 14, fire crews were dispatched to Grove Street for reports of cars on fire.

Initial reports were for multiple car fires in an alley behind 197 Grove St., adjacent to several multi-family occupied homes.

Fire crews arrived three minutes after the first call came in and encountered two BMW vehicles fully ablaze in the rear parking area. A third vehicle was beginning to catch fire and two adjacent multifamily homes were in imminent danger of catching fire. Crews ran a hose line to contain and extinguish the fire before any damage to the residences could occur.

Fire crews encountered multiple explosions in addition to downed live power lines in the alley, as a result of this fire, during the initial attack.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation at this time

Estimated damage is approximately $30,000.
