MANCHESTER, N.H. – Around midnight on Friday morning, Manchester Police arrested an intoxicated man who smashed into a pile of boulders at the end of Elm Street.

The accident leading to the ultimate crash occurred near the intersection of Elm Street and Bennington Road according to police, with the operator of the vehicle still sitting in the driver’s seat upon their arrival.

That driver was identified as 37-year-old Charles McNeill of Manchester. Officers indicated the smell of alcohol on McNeill’s car and also described him as drowsy and with bloodshot eyes.

McNeill was reluctant to leave the car and had trouble standing when he did exit the vehicle, refusing to identify himself or put his hands on the car.

Upon further investigation, McNeill was found to have a bag in one of his pockets with a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.

McNeill was charged with alleged possession of controlled drugs, driving under the influence of alcohol (third offense), resisting arrest and disobeying an officer. He will be in Hillsborough County Superior Court – North on Sept. 4.
