MANCHESTER, NH – Manchester Police responded to building fire at 374 Amory Street on May 26, approximately 5:30 p.m. Detectives made quick work of the case and facilitated the arrest of two 16 year-olds. The two youths were taken into custody over the weekend and placed in Youth Detention Services Unit. The names and addresses are withheld based on the fact they both are minors.

Occupants of both homes on either side of the burning building were evacuated to safety as the firefighters worked to save their homes. Both homes to either side suffered damage to their siding but both are habitable thanks to the efficient efforts of the fire companies.

Officials said the building at 374 Amory St. has been vacant for several years and has had occasional problems with squatters taking temporary residence within it. Damage was estimated at $100,000.
