MANCHESTER, N.H. – On Wednesday, police arrested 29-year-old Damon French on charges of alleged simple assault, stalking and violation of bail conditions.

The charges stemmed from an assault at an address on Amherst Street, with the person calling police saying that French hit a woman in the face and threw her on the floor.

French had already been ordered to stay away from this woman due to a previous incident on Tuesday where he allegedly choked her.

During Tuesday’s incident, French was issued separate charges of alleged second degree assault and simple assault before being released on personal recognizance bail.

French is now being held on preventative detention.

Anyone accused of a crime is innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
