Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) has received a $25,000 grant from the Annette and George William Cottrell Jr. Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. The grant will help further PPNNE’s mission of protecting and advancing reproductive health care access by supporting organizing and public policy work in New Hampshire.

PPNNE’s organizing and policy work integrates public education, advocacy, collaboration, media strategies, and grassroots mobilization. This work – including advocating for reproductive health and rights, expanded health care access, and other beneficial policies – reduces unintended pregnancy and promotes public health, equity, and economic security statewide. Through these efforts, PPNNE strives to improve population-level health, enhancing the lives of New Hampshire women, men, and young people.

In partnership with Planned Parenthood New Hampshire Action Fund and other advocacy organizations, last year PPNNE helped pass contraception access legislation that requires insurance to cover a year’s worth of prescription contraceptives at one time and incorporates into state law a no-cost contraception provision. This law will increase access to vital women’s health care, reduce gaps in contraceptive access, and support women in achieving their reproductive goals.

Meagan Gallagher, president and CEO of PPNNE said, “The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation’s support is particularly critical in light of the great need for subsidized family planning services in New Hampshire, as well as ongoing threats to PPNNE’s federal family planning funding. Now as much as ever before, it is imperative that we advance state-level efforts to protect reproductive health care access. We are grateful for the Foundation’s support in this vital work.”

“We are honored to steward the legacy of our donors by supporting the important work of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England,” said Anne Phillips, director of grantmaking for the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. “Planned Parenthood’s advocacy is critical to ensuring and protecting a health care system that meets the needs for so many New Hampshire residents.”
