MANCHESTER,  NH — A neighborhood charrette held Friday to entertain feedback from the community about how to improve the homeless shelter and its surroundings resulted in a proposal, delivered Saturday.

RELATED: Reimagining the neighborhood and how the homeless shelter can be a better neighbor

As outlined by Plan NH, the 39-page document (see below) is a blueprint for an expanded shelter campus developed to promote positive social interaction and integration in the community for the homeless population.

The design is based on feedback that the shelter should be upgraded to be:

  • A campus that is better connected and coordinated with the neighborhood
  • Include activities and services, including a training center
  • Be a warm, inviting, comfortable place

We’ll continue to follow the progress of this proposal. You can read the document generated by Plan NH and presented on June 29 below.
