Penmen upset in NE-10 Tennis Tournament

Women’s Tennis

After a nearly perfect season, Southern New Hampshire saw their season end in the Northeast-10 Conference Semifinals with a 4-1 loss to Stonehill.

Only freshman Isabella Andrade (Cohcabamba, Bolivia) had a win for the Penmen.

Southern New Hampshire had now won nine consecutive matches, while Stonehill has now captured four straight against NCAA Division II opponents.

Field Hockey

A ninth-ranked SNHU took down seventh-ranked Assumption on Saturday, 3-1.

Junior Hélène Servais (Brussels, Belgium) scored the first goal, followed by subsequent scores by senior Laura van der Doorn (Beverwijk, The Netherlands) and freshman Lisa Hagel (Driehuis, The Netherlands).

Southern New Hampshire’s seventh-straight victory sets a new program record for consecutive wins. The Penmen had previously set and tied the school benchmark of six twice this season.

SNHU is now tied with Adelphi for second place in the Northeast-10, and one game behind Saint Anselm for the conference lead.

Southern New Hampshire (13-3, 9-3 Northeast-10) heads to American International on Tuesday in an NE10 contest slated to begin at 7 p.m.

Men’s Soccer

The Penmen got a pair of second-half goals, taking a 2-1 victory over the University of New Haven on Saturday.

Graduate student João Brum (Ribeira Grande, Portugal) scored the first goal in the 54th minute, followed by the game winner in the 69th minute by freshman Sinisa Sprecakovic (Mannheim, Germany).

Southern New Hampshire is unbeaten over its last six contests (4-0-2).

The Penmen (6-4-3, 4-3-2 Northeast-10) return to action Tuesday, Oct. 29 (7 p.m.) when they play host to crosstown-rival Saint Anselm College at Penmen Stadium.

Women’s Soccer

Sophomore Dorthea Glorud (Brumunddal, Norway) scored to goals to lead 24th-ranked SNHU to a 3-2 victory over 11th-ranked College of Saint Rose on Saturday.

The other Penmen goal came from an own goal conceded by Saint Rose.

The Penmen (10-4-0, 7-4-0 Northeast 10) return to action Wednesday, Oct. 30 (5 p.m.) when they play host crosstown-rival Saint Anselm College at Penmen Stadium.

Women’s Volleyball

New Haven needed just three sets to defeat SNHU on Saturday.

Freshman Juliana Pacini (Sao Paolo, Brazil) led the team with eight kills.

The Penmen are back in action Friday, Nov. 1 (7 p.m.) when they play host to Le Moyne College at the Stan Spirou Field House.
