Men’s Ice Hockey

Despite 61 saves from senior Kurt Gutting (Weymouth, Mass.), SNHU could not defeat Colby on Tuesday night, falling 2-1.

The only Penmen goal came from sophomore Cole Stewart (Alpharetta, Ga.) in the second period.

The Penmen (6-2-0, 4-0 Northeast-10) will be home game The Ice Den over the weekend to host the Manchester PAL Cup.  SNHU will host Morrisville at 1:50 p.m.  Wentworth and UMass Dartmouth will follow at 4:50 p.m.

Women’s Basketball

Despite a career-high 30 points from junior Gyanna Russell (East Hampton, Conn.), the Penmen couldn’t finish a comeback against rival Saint Anselm on Tuesday night, falling 84-83.

The Penmen went on a 43-35 run in the second half, taking the lead briefly in the contest’s final minute.

SNHU had 13 three-pointers, a single-game program record.

Senior Victoria Dean (Plymouth, Mass.) also had a career-high, scoring 29 points and senior Molly Terry (Shrewsbury, Mass.) had 13 points in the loss.

The Penmen (4-3, 0-2 Northeast-10) are back in action Sunday, Dec. 1 (1:30 p.m.) when they play host to the University of Bridgeport in non-conference action at the Stan Spirou Field House.

Men’s Basketball

Freshman Jacari Sanders (San Antonio, Texas) had a career-high 27 points, but couldn’t overcome Saint Anselm on Tuesday, falling 104-93 in overtime.

Senior Shawn Montague (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) had 21 points, with junior Michael Almonacy (Brentwood, N.Y.) also pitching in 16 points.

Since winning four straight, Southern New Hampshire has now dropped back-to-back games. Saint Anselm has won four-in-a-row in the series against SNHU, as well as four straight at the Stan Spirou Field House.

The Penmen (4-2, 1-2 Northeast-10) are back in action Sunday, Dec. 1 (2 p.m.) when they take on Post University.
