MANCHESTER, NH – Officer Matthew Brown responded to a crash involving a pedestrian and a motor vehicle around 7:10 a.m. on March 13 at the intersection of Elm and Manchester streets.

Officer Brown spoke with the 69-year-old operator of the 2010 Hyundai while the injured pedestrian was treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The operator was turning east on to Manchester Street, from Elm Street, when she struck the 57-year-old man walking across Manchester Street.

The man was struck by the driver’s side of her vehicle as it knocked him to the ground causing a non-life-threatening hip injury. The preliminary investigation noted the operator was at fault for the crash for failing to yield to a crossing pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Police remind pedestrians and motorists to exercise extreme caution whenever driving in the downtown.
