Pedestrian struck while crossing Tarrytown Road, seriously injured

CruiserMANCHESTER, NH — An 85-year-old pedestrian was struck by a motorist while attempting to cross Tarrytown Road at Auburn Street on Nov. 28.

At about 5:25 p.m. Manchester Police  responded to the scene of the accident and determined that the man was crossing in an easterly direction when he was struck by a 2003 Buick driven by Thomas Ameen, 51, of Manchester.

The  pedestrian was taken to the Elliot Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later transported by Med Flight to a Boston Hospital. His name was withheld by police pending notification of family members. Ameen was not injured.

The traffic at this intersection is controlled by traffic lights and is equipped with walk signals, police said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Manchester Police Traffic Unit. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in this crash. Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to contact the Manchester Police Department at 603-668-8711.
