BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – For the second night in a row, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats needed only one run to defeat the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, although this time they also only needed seven innings.

Rain prematurely ended Thursday’s contest, which saw both teams combine for just six hits. One of those was a leadoff triple in the first by Cullen Large. Josh Palacios helped Large take the final 90 feet to the plate and Nate Pearson took things the rest of the way for the Fisher Cats.

After 16 Eastern League starts, Pearson finally notched his first win going 5 2/3 innings and giving up four hits and three walks, striking out six. Vinny Nittoli went the rest of the way for his second save of the year.

Tommy Wilson fell to 4-5 despite hurling a gem, giving up just two hits and a walk over all seven innings of the contest.

The Fisher Cats return home on Friday with a 7:05 p.m tilt against Portland. New Hampshire will send out Justin Dillon (4-2, 3.83 ERA) against Portland’s Ryan Mata (2-5, 6.23 ERA)
