The Manchester Police Department’s primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of all of our citizen’s, so today’s incident on Hartshorn Way prompted an evacuation of several nearby residents and a shelter in place for others. primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of all of our citizen’s, so today’s incident on Hartshorn Way prompted an evacuation of several nearby residents and a shelter in place for others.

This decision was based on the fact the despondent man was allegedly armed and contemplating suicide, so we felt it necessary to remove as many Hartshorn Way residents needed to minimize exposure during the eleven hour incident. The extra precautions were implemented to ensure the safety of all of our residents of Hartshorn Way, to include the 41-year-old despondent man who remained inside of his home.

The Manchester Police SWAT Team entered his residence around 12:10 a.m. and escorted him into an awaiting ambulance. Fortunately, we were able to resolve this peacefully and provide him with the medical treatment needed to assist with his mental wellbeing. He was transported to an area hospital and has not been criminally charged at this time.
