Patricia Sapienza, 81: Beloved wife, mother, grand and great-grandmother, Caregivers volunteer

MANCHESTER, NH – Patricia A. (Phelan) Sapienza, 81, of Manchester, died April 5, 2018 at Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a period of declining health.

She was born in Manchester on January 28, 1937 to Harold and Anna (Peltak) Phelan. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1955 and was a lifelong resident of Manchester.

Pat worked for American Patriots Group Insurance for 30 years. She started as a file clerk, then became district manager and retired as an auditor.

She was a longtime communicant and member of the Ladies Guild at the former Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. She had an interest in politics and had worked for the Democratic Party in Manchester. She was also a volunteer for Caregivers Incorporated.

Her most enjoyable role was as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered as a very kind, lovable and caring person.

She was predeceased by her parents at a young age.

The family includes her husband of 60 years, Alfred Sapienza Jr. of Manchester; five children, Linda Sapienza of Hampton; Anthony Sapienza and his wife, Shirley; Phillip Sapienza and his wife, Pam; Thomas Sapienza; and Edward Sapienza and his wife, Andrea, all of Manchester; seven grandchildren, Angelo, Briana, Gina, Alfred, Dominic, Kayleigh and Angelina; two great-grandchildren, Vinny and Benjamin; three siblings, Ruthann Weston of Manchester, Richard Phelan of Hooksett and Garrett Phelan of Rochester, NY; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the loving care they provided to Pat.

SERVICES: Calling hours are April 15 from 2 to 5 p.m. followed immediately at 5 p.m. with a funeral ceremony, all at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester. A cemetery committal is Tuesday April 17 at 1 p.m. at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.
