FRANCONICA, NH – A 57-year-old  Amherst woman was found dead in a wooded area off one of the trails at Cannon Mountain Ski Area, the victim of an apparent skiing accident.

On Sunday the Franconia Police Department was alerted to an overdue skier, whose vehicle was located at a parking lot at the Cannon Mountain Ski Area. Searchers from the Cannon Mountain Ski Patrol, Cannon Mountain grooming operations, Conservation Officers from NH Fish and Game Department, and Officers from Franconia Police Department searched throughout the night. Shortly after 3:30 a.m. searchers located the body of missing skier Susan Galli, 57, of Amherst, in the woods off the Taft Slalom Trail.

Preliminary investigation suggests Galli  succumbed to injuries that she received when she left the trail and entered a wooded area.
