Op Ed

As the presidential primary draws near, I recall my first New Hampshire primary and the election of JFK as our president. The feeling that something great was going to happen was all around us then. This is what I feel in 2016. The primary is less than a month away and a woman whom I admire and who has done so much for our country is in the race for our nation’s top office. Secretary Clinton is a person I have known for years and have admired for her commitment to public service.

She has no “quit” in her makeup and on February 9th New Hampshire has an opportunity to move her one step closer to the White House. To the state, I ask this question: Why Hillary Clinton for President?

Democratic presidential hopeful, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y. second from right, talks with Patty and Rik Cornell, far right, while going door-to-door campaigning with supporter sate Sen. Lou D'Allesandro in Manchester, N.H., Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007.

I have known Hillary Clinton for many years and find her to be the most qualified and best prepared to lead this country as we move forward. She has the best interest of the people at heart. Her ability to solve problems and drive the economy forward is key to making life better for all. My very strong support comes from working with Secretary Clinton for many years and watching her commitment to public service. She cares and I know that she will not let us down.

I have been involved in public service for over 40 years and find no person more qualified and ready to be president than Hillary Clinton. She cares about us – the working people of New Hampshire and of the nation. Her knowledge is something no one questions. My belief is that she will make us all proud to be part of this move to restore the middle class and create new opportunities for all.

“Clearly qualified” and “ready” are the words I use to describe Hillary Clinton as the campaign unfolds. I know her and I believe in her. I ask my fellow New Hampshire citizens to go to the polls on February 9th and vote for the person who will make our lives better, create an economy that takes us forward, and makes us all proud to be part of this great event in the history of our country.

My vote will be for Hillary Clinton and I urge you to do the same. Every vote counts and your vote will make the difference.
