MANCHESTER, NH — On April 27, 2017 at approximately 7 p.m. Officer Matt Comeau observed a man he was familiar with standing near the intersection of Merrimack and Pine streets. The man, Aaron Roux, 29, of 188 Bell St,, was known to Officer Comeau based on prior contact involving a domestic offense.
As a result of that prior incident, Officer Comeau had completed warrants for Roux. Officer Comeau approached Roux to detain him while confirming that the warrants were active. Once Roux heard the confirmation come over the radio, he took off running from Officer Comeau. The officer was able to catch Roux as they fell to the ground. Roux was able to slip away from Officer Comeau’s grasp. The foot chase ensued a second time. While being chased, Roux tossed two trash cans at Officer Comeau in an attempt to avoid being arrested. One of the trash cans struck Officer Comeau.
Roux was caught a second time by Officer Comeau and after falling to the ground with him a second time, he was able to secure him in handcuffs. Officer Comeau suffered a broken arm during the incident. He has been treated and released.
Roux was out on bail out of the 9th Circuit Court Manchester since January 27, 2017. He is charged with simple assault, resisting arrest (a felony) and violation of bail. The warrants that Officer Comeau was executing contain multiple charges of domestic simple assault (five counts), obstructing report of a crime (three counts) and violation of bail (one count). Roux was not admitted to bail. He will be arraigned on all charges on Friday, April 28, 2017, at the 9th Circuit Court Manchester.
