LONDONDERRY, NH – The northbound lane of I-93 was closed near Exit 4 following a tractor trailer crash at around 7 a.m., according to NH DOT.

An accident investigation revealed that a 2002 International Tractor Trailer unit, operated by Efrain Rodriguez, 30, of Hartford, CT, was traveling northbound on I-93 when Rodriguez lost control of his vehicle and entered the center median. The area where Rodriguez went off the road was an active construction zone and his vehicle hit a 2013 Peterbuilt dump truck operated by Johnathan Privitera, 28, of Salem,  who was stopped and parked inside the construction zone. Rodriguez then struck a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze that was not occupied and was parked within the construction zone. The tractor-trailer unit came to a final rest against a concrete Jersey barrier.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the crash and the high speed lane on I-93 north was  shut down for several hours in order to aid in the clean-up process.

It was determined that Rodriguez had fallen asleep behind the wheel of the tractor trailer unit, resulting in the crash. He was cited for negligent operation of a motor vehicle under RSA 265:79-b. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Trooper First Class Sean Harrington.  Sean.Harrington@dos.nh.gov   603-672-3333.
