UPDATE: 6 a.m. April 18, via Facebook/Twitter:

With a lofty goal of making as many originally-designed bike racks as humanly possible, Beer and her small but dedicated team of family and friends spent the weekend at Beer’s warehouse workshop bending, welding, sand-blasting. refining and painting the racks, which will be donated to the city and placed strategically, to encourage bicyclers to bicycle.

So done, in a good way!

The project got underway around 10 a.m. on April 16 and wrapped up late Sunday night, including a “safety nap” for the team after a long Saturday of hard labor.

James Beer was a key player on his sister's team, seen here doing something amazing that looks a lot like levitating 17 bike racks.

Participants around the world raised more than $50,000 for the cause, a global endurance event during which teams form and pick an activity, then invite their friends, family and members of the local community to pledge money, aka crowd-sourcing random acts of kindness.

You can still donate to Team Beer by clicking here. Materials were donated by the North of Webster community watch group.
