CONCORD, NHNH State Rep. Al Baldasaro, R-Londonderry, was quoted Wednesday during a radio interview as saying Secretary Hillary Clinton should be “shot for treason,” during an interview from the GOP convention in Cleveland, Ohio.

His remarks have caused Trump’s campaign to say they love Baldasaro, but disagree with his words, and now the Secret Service is investigating the Londonderry  lawmaker, according to the Washington Post.

An immediate response was issued by NH Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley:

“Al Baldasaro’s comments that Secretary Clinton should be ‘put in the firing line and shot’ are disgusting, offensive and frighteningly commonplace in the party of Trump,” said NHDP Chair Ray Buckley. “By repeatedly praising someone like Al Baldasaro in the past, Donald Trump has lifted up the worst of the New Hampshire Republican Party and shown exactly what kind of company he intends to keep as President.

“Baldasaro has embarrassed the Granite State long enough. I’m calling on Chair Horn to repudiate his dangerous and divisive remarks and to publicly ask for his resignation.”

Baldasaro is a New Hampshire delegate for  Donald Trump’s campaign and serves as co-chair of Trump’s veterans coalition. He is attending the GOP National Convention in Cleveland. The comments were made during a spot on  “The Kuhner Report” via Boston radio station WRKO on July 21.

On Wednessday, NH GOP Chair Jennifer Horn issued the following statement on Baldasarro’s comments:

Representative Baldasaro’s comments are appalling and have no place in public discourse. Calls for violence in politics are never appropriate. I  condemn his statement in the strongest terms possible and urge him to immediately  apologize.”
