MANCHESTER, NH – Members of the Manchester Police Department Detective Unit are investigating an incident on Flaherty Lane and Hecker Street after an officer-involved shooting occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m. on September 6, 2018. Several officers were conducting surveillance on a wanted subject who was considered to be armed and dangerous.

Justin McInnes, 29 of Manchester, was wanted on several warrants, to include a reckless conduct warrant stemming from a July 27 road rage incident where he allegedly struck another vehicle with his car and a September 5 incident involving a brief pursuit with a Manchester police officer.

Several officers were conducting surveillance at 64 Flaherty Lane when they watched McInnes exit the apartment building. The officers identified themselves and ordered McInnes to show his hands. McInnes allegedly refused to comply as he entered a vehicle and accelerated rapidly toward the officers who ordered him to stop. Officers fired upon the fast-moving vehicle as they narrowly escaped being struck by the 2007 Jeep Cherokee.

McInnes drove toward Main Street before his vehicle failed and officers were able to take him into custody. McInnes sustained non-life threatening injuries most likely caused by broken glass and other shrapnel from his vehicle. He was transported to an area hospital but released a short time later and processed at police headquarters.

Roads remained closed for several hours around Hecker Street and Flaherty Lane while police processed the scene. Roads were reopened Friday morning, according to Lt. Brian O’Keefe.

The officers located a handgun inside of his vehicle. McInnes, in addition to the outstanding warrants, is charged with three counts attempted murder, felon in possession of a firearm and fugitive from justice. He is scheduled to appear in Hillsborough County Superior Court-North on September 7, 2018.
