ST JOHN’S, NEWFOUNDLAND, CANADA – For the fourth time already in this young season, the Manchester Monarchs have fallen to the expansion Newfoundland Growlers.

On Saturday, Newfoundland earned a 3-0 victory over Manchester, beginning with yet another Growlers goal, this one a power play effort from Ryan Moore. Newfoundland added another goal near the period’s halfway mark, again from Moore.

Despite a frenzied pace that saw Manchester obtain almost three times as many shots on goal during the final two periods of the contest, Growlers goalkeeper Matt Garteig held firm and J.J. Piccinich added an insurance goal on a power play 11:21 into the third.

Zach O’Brien and Kyle Cumiskey assisted on both power play goals.

Half of the losses so far this year for Manchester (4-6-1-1), have come against Newfoundland. The next chance for a win against the Growlers comes on March 20 at SNHU Arena. First, the Monarchs return for a Wednesday morning contest against the Adirondack Thunder.
