MANCHESTER, NH – On Saturday, April 18, 395 students from more than 50 New Hampshire high schools will perform in the All-State Music Festival at the Capitol Center for the Arts, Concord.
Of this group, 22 students will be representing Manchester high schools in band, orchestra, mixed choir, and women’s choir.
This group of talented musicians was selected from more than 1,000 students who auditioned last fall. The festival is run by the New Hampshire Music Educators Association, a division of the National Association for Music Education.
For Becky O’Neil, whose son Conor Powers is participating for the third year, this has been a tremendous experience for her son.
“My son enjoys meeting like-minded, serious musicians, so the importance of the social aspect and camaraderie shouldn’t be ignored. Likewise, the opportunity for these students to work with world-class guest conductors is amazing,” said O’Neil.
“This is a well-run competition and concert with many moving pieces and hardworking music educators as well as talented students,” said O’Neil.
Next year, the All-State Music Festival is adding an All-State guitar ensemble, the sixth in the nation.
The concert is open to the public and starts at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 general seating and can be purchased at the door or online by clicking here.
