MANCHESTER, NH – The following is a police narrative detailing an accident Sunday involving a police cruiser:

Officer Shaun McKennedy was operating a fully marked 2017 Ford Taurus police cruiser at 4:20 p.m. Nov. 26, approaching the intersection of Union and Orange streets, when he noticed a vehicle proceed through the intersection. He observed a 2008 Ford Focus drive west on Orange Street, past the posted stop sign and into his path of operation as he proceed north on Union Street.

Officer McKennedy attempted to take evasive actions, but was unable to avoid the car. He struck the vehicle on the driver’s side door before his vehicle crashed into a telephone pole on Union Street. The operator of the Ford Focus, Lucile Mailloux, 85, of Manchester, sustained injuries to her chest and leg as a result of the crash, so she was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Officer McKennedy was also transported to a local hospital and treated for a head laceration and an injury to his knee and ankle. Mailloux and McKennedy were treated and released last night. Investigators determined Mailloux was at fault for the crash after they spoke with several eye witnesses who reside in the area. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene.
