MANCHESTER, NH — A strange series of events led to the arrest of a Manchester man following an accident on Elm Street Sunday.

On June 11 a motorist was headed north on Elm Street stopped at the red light at Lake Avenue when a man,  for unknown reasons according to the driver, attacked his car. The operator said the man was banging on his windows,  and so the startled driver attempted to turn right to get away from the man.

The man continued to yell at the driver, as the driver turned. The driver did not see a motorcycle headed East on Lake at Granite Street.  The Motorcycle struck the side of the vehicle.

The person operating the car hit the gas in the confusion, and accelerated into El Rincon restaurant.

The man who had been yelling and hitting the car continued to yell and confront the vehicle operator. MFD / AMR responded to the accident and transported the cyclist to the hospital with injuries described as serious but not life threatening.

Police arrived on scene and after arrested the man who was allegedly banging on the window, Michael Noonan, 43, of Manchester. He is charged with disorderly conduct.

At the scene and in booking Noonan initially refused to identify himself, but later identified himself and was bailed on personal recognizance bail.

The road remained closed for an extended time while the investigation took place. The road was shut down between Elm and Chestnut.
