Mother, son, arrested in connection with murder-for-hire plot

PLAINFIELD, NH – A mother and son have been charged with a murder-for-hire plot, according to a State Police press release.

Pauline Chase, 83, and her son, Maurice Temple, 63, who both reside at 455 Old County Road in Plainfield, were taken into custody on July 27, 2017 by law enforcement officials, charged in connection with a murder for hire investigation.

Plainfield Police Chief Paul M. Roberts, and State Police Colonel Christopher J. Wagner made the announcement late Thursday.

No details were released about the alleged plot. The home address, located on several acres of ground, is also a business, listed as Temple Excavating. 

Temple and Chase were scheduled for arraignment in 5th Circuit District Division court in Claremont on July 28. They are both charged with conspiracy to commit murder, solicitation to commit murder, and attempt to commit murder.

Their arrests were the result of an extensive investigation and cooperative effort by the following agencies: Plainfield Police Department, NH Attorney General’s Office Drug Task Force, State Police Troop C, State Police Major Crime Unit, Sullivan County Attorney’s Office.
