Monarchs prep for season opener Oct. 14, announce training camp roster

MANCHESTER, NH – Manchester Monarchs head coach Rich Seeley announced Oct. 12 that Matt Leitner, Tony Turgeon, Ed Wittchow and Zac Lynch have been added to the training camp roster. With the additions, the roster is currently comprised of 28 players (17 forwards, seven defensemen and four goaltenders).

Forwards: Mark Anthoine, Derek Arnold, Daniel Ciampini, Joe Diamond, Daniel Doremus, Alex Guptill, Gasper Kopitar, Matt Leitner, Zac Lynch, Kevin Morris, Joe Pendenza, Troy Power, Quentin Shore, Dean Yakura, Cory Ward.

Defensemen: Justin Agosta, Robbie Donahoe, Connor Hardowa, David Kolomatis, Alexx Privitera, Ed Wittchow, Craig Wyszomirski.

Goaltenders: Danila Alistratov, Jack Flinn, Jonah Imoo, Colin Stevens.

Leitner spent the 2015-16 season with the Monarchs and scored 49 points in 51 games (12g, 37a). The rookie forward played in 16 AHL games as well with the Milwaukee Admirals and Ontario Reign, netting four assists.

Turgeon began the 2015-16 season with the Monarchs, and scored one goal in eight games before being called-up to the Portland Pirates (AHL). With Portland, Turgeon skated in 35 games, recorded one assist and added 73 penalty minutes.

Wittchow, a sixth round selection (154 overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft comes to Monarchs camp by way of the Springfield Thunder (AHL). 2016-17 will be Wittchow’s first professional season after playing four seasons for the University of Wisconsin. While at Wisconsin, Wittchow played in 123 games, and recorded 17 points on one goal and 17 assists.

Lynch, who also joins the Monarchs from Springfield, will begin his first full professional season in 2016-17. After spending four years at Robert Morris University where he played in 152 games and scored 157 points on 67 goals and 90 assists, Lynch was signed by the Portland Pirates and played in seven games last season, recording one assist.

The Monarchs will continue to hold open practices at Sullivan Arena on the campus of St. Anselm College leading up to the season opener Oct. 14 (7 p.m.) at SNHU Arena, when they host the Adirondack Thunder for the first of two games on Opening Weekend.
