INSIDE THE SERIES
The key to a Monarchs win in Game 7 may hinge on the stick of Daniel Ciampini. In the nine games Ciampini has recorded a point in the playoffs, the Monarchs are 8-1, and have outscored their opponents a combined 36-16. Manchester is 2-0 against the Stingrays when 26 has found himself on the scoresheet.
GET OUT EARLY
The Monarchs have jumped on their opponents early and often during the Kelly Cup Playoffs, having outscored their competition, 17-8, in the opening period. Through the first six games of the series, Manchester has not allowed a first period goal to South Carolina, and leads the first stanza, 5-0.
COULDN’T BE CLOSER
Picking a winner for tonight’s game will be tough, as Manchester and South Carolina couldn’t be closer when it comes to goals scored and allowed. Entering tonight’s do-or-die Game 7, the Monarchs and Stingrays have both scored 3.00 goals per game throughout the playoffs, with the Monarchs having the slight edge in goals against, having allowed 2.22 compared to 2.29 for the Stingrays.
There is a good chance the Monarchs will have multiple opportunities on the power play in Game 7, as three Stingrays lead the Kelly Cup Playoffs in minor penalties. Andrew Cherniwchan leads all skaters with 17 minors, while Rob Flick (14) and Wade Epp (13) round-out the top-3. The Stingrays have faced 87 short-handed situations throughout the playoffs, 18 more than the Monarchs and 27 more than the Western Conference Champion, Colorado Eagles.
