ELMIRA, NY – The Manchester Monarchs received goals from five different players, including two from Maxim Kitsyn, on their way to a 6-1 rout of the Elmira Jackals on Friday night at First Arena.

The Monarchs (21-12-0-3) have now outscored the Jackals (20-14-0-0) 13-5 in their four meetings this season.

Kitsyn got the scoring started early for the Monarchs, netting his twelfth goal of the season at 2:17 of the first period.  Kitsyn was parked in the slot and found the puck off of a Michael Boivin shot, sending the rebound high over the glove of Elmira goaltender, C.J. Motte.

The Monarchs doubled their lead when Yann Sauvé scored his fifth goal of the season on the power play at 8:40.  After playing catch with Matt Leitner on the blue line, Sauvé wristed his shot through a screen past Motte to make the game, 2-0.

Derek Arnold added to the Monarchs first period lead when he scored his eighth goal of the season.  Arnold grabbed a rebound in the low-slot and backhanded the puck past Motte for the three-goal advantage at 19:43.

Tyler Currier broke the ice for the Jackals at 19:54 of the first period, scoring his 5th goal of the season.  Currier beat Monarchs goaltender, Doug Carr, with a wrist shot from the bottom of the right circle after a persistent forecheck turned the Monarchs over in their own zone.

The Monarchs regained their three-goal lead when Kitsyn scored his second goal of the night at 2:56 of the second period.  Kitsyn found a bouncing rebound off of a Sauvé shot and sent home the airborne puck past Motte.

Boivin netted the Monarchs fifth goal of the night, scoring his 4th of the season at 4:29.  Boivin gained the offensive zone and ripped a wrist shot through the legs of an Elmira defender, sending the puck over the blocker of Motte, chasing the Elmira goalie from the game.

Darik Angeli added the sixth and final Monarchs goal early in the third period, netting his 5th of the season at 1:04 of the final frame.  Angeli tipped a Matt MacKenzie shot through new Jackals goaltender, Niklas Lundstrom, to give the Monarchs a 6-1 lead.

The Monarchs are back on the ice Saturday, Jan. 9 (7:05 p.m.), when they finish their two-game series with the Elmira Jackals at First Arena.
