PLAYOFF PICTURE

The Monarchs (85 pts.) currently hold the fourth and final playoff spot in the North Division. If the season ended today, the Monarchs would play the Adirondack Thunder (91 pts.) in the North Division Semifinals. The Monarchs trail the Beast (86 pts.) and the Reading Royals (86 pts.) for second and third place. Only the Adirondack Thunder have secured their seed (1st) in the North Division.

Regardless of seeding, the Monarchs will open the 2017 Kelly Cup Playoffs at SNHU Arena for Games:

Fri., April 14 – vs TBD – 7 p.m. – North Division Semifinals Game 1 Tickets

Sat., April 15 – vs TBD – 6 p.m. – North Division Semifinals Game 2Tickets

BREAKING IT ALL DOWN

The Monarchs must pick up a win and two points tonight against the Brampton Beast to move out of the fourth seed in the division. Both the Reading Royals and the Beast hold the tie breaker of total wins, excluding shootout victories, over the Monarchs. With a victory, Manchester would guarantee themselves the two or three seed in the North Division and a first round series against the Beast or Royals. One point, or a loss tonight, will result in a first round matchup against the Adirondack Thunder.

STRONG IN NET

Charles Williams has burst on to the scene for the Monarchs, and after last night’s 4-1 victory remains undefeated in the ECHL with a 3-0-0-0 record thus far. Williams is posting a 2.33 goals against average to go along with a .919 save percentage in his three professional games.

WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?

Before last night’s penalty-filled game, Manchester ranked 26th in the league, averaging only 11.66 penalty minutes per game, and Brampton ranked 25th in the league and averaging 11.73 penalty minutes per game. The two teams combined to tie a Monarchs season-high, 64 penalty minutes, including 44 minutes in the third period between the two teams.

40 MINUTE GAMES

This season, the Monarchs have not lost a game in regulation when leading after two periods of play. Their 33-0-3-2 record is tied for the second most wins when leading through two, along with the Allen Americans (33-1-0-1). The Monarchs are one of six teams without a regulation loss, when leading heading into the third and trail only the Toledo Walleye (38-0-1-0) in the win column. When trailing after two periods this season, Brampton has posted a 4-21-1-1 record.
