MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Manchester Monarchs finished their week with five out of six possible points, taking a 5-2 win against the Maine Mariners on Saturday night.

Manchester took an early lead, with newcomer Kevin Dufour scoring 3:59 into the contest on what was the Monarchs’ first shot of the game.

Drake Rymsha added another goal on the Monarchs’ second shot, sliding a breakaway backhand past the glove side of Maine goaltender Connor LaCouvee just under two minutes later.

Chris Carlisle made it 3-0 just before the halfway point of the second period, but the Mariners finally solved Manchester netminder Cole Kehler later in the second thanks to Dwyer Schantz’ sixth goal of the season.

Charles-Eric Legare made it a one-goal lead again with 9:58 left in the contest, but that would be it as Nic Pierog added his 26th goal of the season on a power play with just over two minutes left in the contest. Sam Kurker added an empty-net goal with just over 90 seconds left to finish the scoreline.

Kehler ended the game stopping 35 Maine shots for his second straight win.

The Monarchs return to the ice on Wednesday at SNHU Arena for a 7 p.m. contest against the Worcester Railers.
