BRAMPTON, Ont., Canada –The Manchester Monarchs concluded their Canadian opening weekend with three points, earning a 4-3 win against the Brampton Beast.

Tony Cameranesi and Cory Ward each grabbed goals for the first period, with Sam Kurker adding a third 6:48 into the second.

Reggie Traccito answered at 7:14 in the second, acquiring a pass in the high slot from Jordan Henry, then turning and firing it over the shoulder of Manchester goaltender Charles Williams.

Jackson Leet’s quick ricochet goal from Jackson Leet put the Beast within one near the close of the second period and the hosts tied things up thanks to a power play goal from Macoy Ermkamps with just under five minutes in the contest.

It would come down to Monarchs captain David Kolomatis, who deftly flicked the puck to Nick Moutrey while falling, allowing Moutrey to send the puck above the glove of Brampton goaltender Jake Patterson with just 57.8 seconds left in regulation, avoiding another overtime finish and providing Manchester with its first win of the season.

The Monarchs (1-0-0-1) return home on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. to face the Newfoundland Growlers.
