GLENS FALLS, N.Y. – The Manchester Monarchs have now won five of their last six contests, securing a 2-1 victory over the Adirondack Thunder on Saturday night.

Mike Szmatula got on the scoresheet the last time these two teams met, and he did so again to start things off, pushing home a rebound 9:10 into the first period.

Adirondack outshot Manchester 14-8 in the opening frame, but the Monarchs prevented any further goals, hanging around until Joe Pendenza knotted things up with just under four minutes in regulation.

Ultimately, the game came down to a goal from recent signing Daniil Miromanov, appearing in just his second game for the Monarchs.

Neither team recorded a penalty minute during the contest, helping Manchester build on its league low in that department. Following Saturday’s contest, they stand at 248 minutes overall after 25 games, almost half an hour less than their cloisest competitor, Tulsa.

The Monarchs return to action Friday, December 21st at 7 p.m., when they take on the Reading Royals at SNHU Arena.
