Gerrylyn Emery talked about how she felt during the Sept. 25 lockdown, and waiting for her twin daughters to emerge from West High School.

“Very nerve-wracking,” Emery said. “Your supposed to send your kids to school every morning, they’re supposed to be safe. Then you get news they’re in lockdown with an animal with a gun. You wonder what’s going on in that guy’s mind, as well as your kids because you want to be sure they’re safe.”

Damian Johnson, 21, entered the school along with students before 8 a.m. One student, who police say noticed he had a gun, alerted the School Resource Officer, who notified administrators.

Johnson, who has prior arrests, was charged with a felony charge of falsifying physical evidence, and three misdemeanors – probation violation, criminal trespassing, and disturbing school in session.

Johnson is scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning, police said.
