Gun violence Ban the sale of AR-15 and other assault style weapons. Ban on high capacity magazines and bump stocks. Close gun show loophole and require background checks for firearm and ammunition purchase.
Healthcare A single payer system whether it be public or non-profit.
Reproductive rights Fully fund Planned Parenthood while fighting to lift abortion coverage bans. Expand and reinvent sex education across the nation. Mandate that health insurance includes a woman’s right to access birth control.
Addiction Create infrastructure to prevent addiction just like we would any other disease. Mental Health should be included and covered in insurance plans. Regulate opioid prescriptions, encourage other types of pain management, and push big pharma to financially contribute to a problem they created. Increase Federal funding for treatment centers. Legalize cannabis.
LGBTQ Reverse the decision by the Department of Education that removes the responsibility to investigate gender identity based discrimination in schools. Institute and enforce non-discrimination laws across all areas of American life– marriage, health insurance, tax benefits, and adoption. Allow all those willing to serve in the military the right to do so regardless of gender identity.
Veterans Fully fund and expand the VA so that every veteran gets the care that he or she has earned and deserves. Support Veterans Choice program. Mandate timelines for care of veterans so that they are prioritized in any medical setting. Invest in and incentivize medical and nursing programs that specialize in veteran care and PSTD treatment. Open up nursing and medical reciprocity laws. Substantially improve the processing of Veterans’ claims for compensation. Expand the VA’s Caregivers Program.
Environment Carbon Tax. Support green manufacturing in the United States by extending subsidies to US based solar manufacturing. Fund the EPA but we also need to restore funding to organizations like the United States Geological Survey. Eliminate tax breaks for oil companies that drill in dangerous, unstable areas.
Seniors Protect Social Security and Medicare. Expand all four parts of Medicare coverage for those receiving Medicare. Remove the cap on Social Security. Expand and incentivize Family Caregiver program.
Voting rights End Gerrymandering. Do away with voter ID laws. Institute automatic voter registration.
Foreign policy Re-enter the Paris Climate Accord. Use economic sanctions to hold nations accountable for human rights violations. Use military force as an absolute last resort when it comes to conflict with other nations.
