The Manchester Monarchs released their opening night roster on Thursday in anticipation for their first regular season game in Worcester this weekend.
Within the 22-man squad, there are 11 players returning from last year including team points leader Matt Leitner and Slovenian standout Gasper Kopitar, the younger brother of former Monarchs icon and current Los Angeles forward Anze Kopitar.
Tickets are still on sale for the home opener, also against Worcester, on Oct. 21. Those tickets can be purchased by calling 603-626-7825, heading to manchestermonarchs.com, through Ticketmaster and at the SNHU Arena box office.
High School News
Outside of their opening day loss to Bedford, the Central girls’ soccer team has been undefeated this season and they continued that streak on Thursday with a 2-0 victory against Nashua South.
They finish out the regular season on the road against Salem next Tuesday and Timberland next Friday.
On the other side of the spectrum in girls’ soccer, Trinity has lost every game this season to teams other than West, at least until Thursday when they pulled out a scoreless draw against Plymouth.
They’ll also finish out their regular season on the road next Tuesday and Friday against Kingswood and John Stark, respectively.
Down in Boston
The Bruins are back in action tomorrow night, continuing their Rocky Mountain road trip against Phoenix.
Puck drops at 9 p.m. EST, and can be watched here in Manchester on NESN (Comcast, Channel 51).
In basketball, the Celtics regular season begins on Monday with a trip to Cleveland, finishing their preseason campaign undefeated.
