High School News
Derryfield sophomores Gunnar Senatore and Colin McGaigue are co-state champions in boys’ golf after Saturday’s Division III Individual Championship at the Owl’s Nest in Thornton.
McGaigue and Senatore each shot 75 in Saturday’s final round, finishing with 155 strokes over the two-round tournament, three strokes better than Bow’s Jake Mielcarz.
In team play, Derryfield also won a state championship, finishing with just one loss during the regular season.
Memorial’s Bryce Vigneault was the top Manchester golfer in Division I after finishing with a total 161 two-round total, 11 strokes behind champion C.J. LaDue of Bedford.
South of the Border
The Patriots climbed to 4-2 on Sunday, defeating the New York Jets 24-17, despite a controversial overturned call that negated a fourth-quarter Jets touchdown.
Next Sunday brings the 3-2 Atlanta Falcons to Foxboro for an 8:30 p.m. matchup (NBC – Comcast, Ch. 10)
The Bruins dropped to 2-3 after a road loss to the expansion Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday night. They return home on Thursday for a 7 p.m. contest against the Vancouver Canucks (NESN – Comcast, Ch. 51)
And it’s opening night in the NBA as the Celtics head to Cleveland on Tuesday for a rematch of last year’s Eastern Conference Finals. Tip is scheduled for 8 p.m. (TNT – Comcast, Ch. 33)
