Meehan named NEWHA Player of the Week

It’s October 9, 2019. Here’s a recap of what’s been going on recently in Saint Anselm College sports.

Women’s Ice Hockey

Junior Katy Meehan (Quincy, Mass.) was named New England Women’s Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Meehan scored two goals and added four assists in two games against Post over the weekend to secure the fourth NEWHA Player of the Week Award of her career.

During her career so far, Meehan has tallied 32 goals and 37 assists in 58 games.

Meehan and the Hawks host Sacred Heart on Friday, Oct. 18 at Sullivan Arena with a 7 p.m. matchup.


Men’s Golf

Rain prematurely ended the 2019 Northeast-10 Conference Men’s Golf Championship, with the Hawks finishing eighth out of ten squads with a team score of plus-17 305. That was 13 strokes behind Assumption, which took the title.

Freshman James Henry (Reading, Mass.) led the Hawks with a 73.


Men’s Soccer

After waiting a week, the Hawks returned to Colchester, Vermont to wrap up a 4-0 win against Saint Michael’s College.

Sophomore Michael Budrewicz (Uccle, Belgium) had a pair of goals late in the first half, sandwiched by goals from sophomore Taylor Silverstein (Concord, N.H.) and senior Nick Heckt (South Windsor, Conn.)

Monday’s matchup was originally scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 1 but play was suspended due to lightning and had to be rescheduled.

The Hawks return to Melucci Field today at 4 p.m. in a battle against Franklin Pierce.
