May 5: Thousands of free comic books waiting for you at Double Midnight Comics

MANCHESTER, NH – Double Midnight Comics is proud to once again participate in Free Comic Book Day this Saturday May 5. Free Comic Book Day is an international event where comic book specialty stores celebrate the medium by distributing millions of comic books for free!

All the public has to do get their free comic books is walk into a participating location, there is no purchase required and no strings attached!

Once again Double Midnight Comics is celebrating Free Comic Book Day with a variety of events at their locations in Manchester and Concord.

At the flagship Manchester location Double Midnight is hosting artists Babs Tarr (DC’s Batgirl, Image Comics’ Motor Crush) and Ben Bishop (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) as well as a host of local New England artists. There will also be a costume contest for kids and adults featuring cash prizes, gift certificates and passes to the Granite State Comicon and Kids Con New England. Hundreds are expected to turn up in costume for the event including members of the Star Wars 501st Garrison. A group photo shoot is planned for 3 p.m. The Manchester Double Midnight regularly draws thousands of attendees for Free Comic Book Day from around New England and as far away as Virginia. The line for Free Comic Book Day is expected to start some time on Thursday, the first 100 people in line get additional incentives including free comic books, graphic novels and more! Mayor Joyce Craig will be attendance when the doors open at 10 a.m.

It’s SUPER SATURDAY MORNING at #yourindiecinema, Red River Theatres and we are excited to show The LEGO Batman Movie!

At the Concord location Double Midnight Comics is co-hosting an early morning screening of the Lego Batman Movie at Red River Theatres. This event features a special meet and greet with DC Comics characters Wonder Woman, Green Arrow and The Flash. The Concord location is hosting artist Emily Drouin organizer of Kids Con New England who will have activities for kids including coloring and face painting. There will also be additional local artists and a costume contest. Attendees can also obtain additional free comic books by visiting various downtown businesses. “Free Comic Book Day is our absolute favorite day of the year” said co-owner Chris Proulx “It’s our opportunity to share our love of comic books with the public. If you’re interested in the world of comic books after seeing the latest Avengers movie or if you want to rediscover comics after being away we encourage you to stop by our stores Saturday and grab some comics for FREE!”

This year’s Free Comic Book Day comic book selection includes a variety of titles include popular favorites The Avengers, Star Wars, DC Superhero Girls, Disney Princesses, Pokemon, Spider-Man and many more!
