MANCHESTER, NH – Once again Hippo de Mayo taco tour is coming at you!
Pro tip: Get there early and hit your favorites first, as tacos have been known to “sell out.”
So what exactly is a Hippo de Mayo? It’s New England’s largest Cinco de Mayo celebration and it’s held in downtown Manchester, home to more than 50 restaurants. Concept is simple: Restaurants create their unique take on the taco and sell them to the public for $2 each.
The public travels from restaurant to restaurant trying tacos from 4-9 p.m. Restaurants vie for awards for People’s Choice and Judges’ Choice, by creating traditional and non-traditional taco combinations – such as Transylvanian dessert taco to a Korean Bulgogi taco to a Greek Opa taco made with marinated pork, tzatziki and french fries.
Each winning restaurants wins $1,000 for their charity of choice.
