MANCHESTER, NH – Following a months-long national search, Easterseals New Hampshire (ESNH) and Families in Transition-New Horizons’ (FIT-NH) jointly announce that Maureen Beauregard will take over as President and CEO of Easterseals NH on October 31, 2019.

Beauregard will replace Larry Gammon, longtime CEO of the nonprofit organization who announced his transition out of the role early this year. Gammon will remain as President & CEO until the transition is complete. ESNH has served people with disabilities and special needs across the Granite State for 83 years and also oversees the Farnum Center as well as affiliates in Vermont and Maine.

Beauregard is the founder and longtime leader of FIT-NH and has led the state’s largest homes services organization since 1991. She is seen as a savvy leader with an acute understanding of the need of the greater New Hampshire community and a proven track record of successful day-to-day leadership, mergers and acquisitions and creating programs to help families and individuals in need.

“Easterseals chose Maureen because of her demonstrated ability to identify unmet needs and provide high-quality services for the most vulnerable populations within our state with innovation and compassion,” says Matthew Boucher, Chairman of the Easterseals NH Board of Directors. “Given her expertise and knowledge of New Hampshire, we anticipate a seamless transition of leadership this fall, and Easterseals NH is excited to begin an entirely new chapter of leadership and programs enhancements under Maureen’s guidance. We are making this exciting transition announcement jointly between our two great nonprofit organizations that have a history of working together to help residents throughout all of New Hampshire.”

Throughout her career, Beauregard has received numerous awards including the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year, Southern New Hampshire University’s Loeffler Award, and University of New Hampshire’s Granite State Award. Under her leadership, Families in Transition was awarded the Business NH Magazine’s 2013 Nonprofit of the Year.

“Easterseals NH is known statewide for providing disability and human services to people of all ages and backgrounds and I look forward to the opportunity to find new and exciting ways to enhance programs and make a difference for New Hampshire families,” says Maureen Beauregard. “I’m leaving Families in Transition – New Horizons at a good time. The financial health of the organization is strong following a recent merger between these two great organizations. I have great faith in the Families in Transition – New Horizons team; the leadership team has been the foundation of the organization and are fully capable to continue the momentum we’ve built, together. Although I am embarking on a new direction, I will always seek ways in which the nonprofit community can work together to support families and individuals.”

The FIT-NH – New Horizons Board of Directors has appointed Lisa Allard, Chief Financial Officer; Cathy Kuhn, PhD, Vice President of Research and Training; and Stephanie Savard, Chief Operating Officer to take over leadership of the organization on an interim basis beginning in October. Beauregard will remain President of FIT-NH through September and the Board of Directors will conduct a nationwide search process for its next President.

“We are happy for Maureen and wish her well in her new role,” said David Cassidy, Co-Chair of the Board of Directors for FIT-NH. “Our Board of Directors is looking at this as a great opportunity to find the next great leader who can not only continue our positive impact, but take us to the next level. We are fortunate to have a strong leadership team who will keep the organization not only going, but thriving.”

Below is a letter circulated by Beauregard prior to the organization’s formal announcement.

Dear Friends,

I’m writing to let you know that I’m taking the next step in my professional career as Easterseals NH’s President & CEO effective on October 31. I will step down as the President of Families in Transition – New Horizons President at the end of September.

Starting with five women and their children in 1991 at a property on Spruce Street in Manchester, NH, we are now one of the largest homeless services organizations in New Hampshire. On any given night we provide shelter and housing to nearly 600 people in Manchester, Concord, Dover, and Wolfeboro, NH. We provide food, shelter, and a full spectrum of services and tools for people to create their own success.

I’m leaving Families in Transition – New Horizons at a good time. Thanks to you all, the financial health of the organization is strong. The Board of Directors is engaged. I have great faith in the Families in Transition – New Horizons leadership team as many of them have been the foundation of the organization for many years and are fully capable to continue the momentum we’ve built, together.

Our Board of Directors has appointed three members of our leadership team; Lisa Allard, Chief Financial Officer; Cathy Kuhn, PhD, Vice President of Research and Training; and Stephanie Savard, Chief Operating Officer to assume leadership of the organization on an interim basis beginning in October.   Together, they have 55 years of service to the organization!

Although I am embarking on a new direction, I will always seek ways in which the nonprofit community can work together to resolve the needs and challenges facing families and individuals in our great state.
