MANCHESTER, NH – The debut of WMNH-FM 95.3’s new drive-time radio show, Matt Connarton Unleashed in the Afternoon, is set for April 10, and will feature a pre-recorded interview with U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan.

The show will air live Monday through Friday in the 4-6 p.m. “drive time” slot.

Matt Connarton Unleashed in the Afternoon is the second live call-in talk show to be produced by WMNH-FM, joining The Morning Show with Peter White and The Moose on the schedule. Broadcast from the downtown studio of WMNH-FM, Manchester Public Television Service, Inc.’s radio station, it is the only locally produced drive-time talk show in the Queen City.

In an interview with Matt Connarton Unleashed in the Afternoon correspondent Nikki Casey, Senator Hassan addressed the possible consequences of proposed federal budget cuts on the recovery community. A former two-term governor of New Hampshire, Hassan launched her political career in response to state budget cuts that adversely affected the special needs community. Her son Ben has cerebral palsy.

The interview was taped at the opening of her Manchester constituent services office at 1589 Elm Street. Sen. Hassan assured Ms. Casey that she would drop by the studio for a full interview with Connarton as soon as her schedule permitted.

Connarton began his radio career in the year 2000, and has worked with college and commercial stations. In 2007, the successful online radio network ipmNation.com was launched by Connarton, and has been a platform for many of his various programs, including the podcast version of Matt Connarton Unleashed. Matt also currently hosts Local Outbreak, a music program featuring New Hampshire-based artists, which is available both online and on FM.

“Politics and music are my two greatest passions,” Connarton said. “To combine both on one FM radio show, with an emphasis on the political, is an exciting opportunity.”

Connarton intends to bring an underrepresented perspective to political talk radio, that of the Independent voter. Matt describes himself as a “non-ideological practical pragmatist, uninterested in carrying the water for either major party.”

Connarton also is thrilled that his will be the first public radio show to feature a Yetti-American.

“While Yetti-Americans have thrived in other entertainment venues likes the movies, they have been underrepresented on the radio waves.”

A non-traditionalist, Connarton prefers the “Two T” spelling of Yetti, which often has put him at odds with others in the Yeti-American community.

Matt Connarton Unleashed in the Afternoon airs on WMNH-FM 93.5 Monday through Friday between 4-6 p.m.
