MANCHESTER, NH – Manchester is enthusiastically anticipating the opening of a new independent bookstore on Elm Street! The Bookery will shortly open its doors, but in the meantime, book lovers anxious for a preview of its offerings can get a sneak peek at Kelley Stelling Contemporary on Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3 from noon to 6 p.m. both days.
A selection of art books carefully curated by Samantha Cataldo, Currier Museum Assistant Curator; Becky Barsi, Derryfield School Creative Arts instructor; and Liz Cipriano, Manager of The Bookery will be on display and for sale at the gallery. There will be books for children, teens and adults offered at a very affordable price point, starting at $15.
The pop-up event coincides with Kelley Stelling Contemporary’s current show “Fast Forward,” which features the work of five women artists: Jessica Brilli, Carol McMahon, Lisa Noonis, Alison Palizzolo and Cindy Rizza.
Women artists are finally achieving recognition in galleries and museums after generations of marginalization in a male-dominated art world. On Saturday March 3 at 1 p.m., noted political activist and radio host Arnie Arnesen will moderate a panel discussion with the artists featured in “Fast Forward” to examine some of the challenges and advances that women artists have experienced. Expect a lively conversation initiated by one of New Hampshire’s most entertaining and brilliant media commentators.
