MANCHESTER, NH – August is just about over, but the high school fall sports season have already begun in Manchester. Here’s a recap of the first few days of the 2017 NHIAA Fall Season from the Queen City’s high schools.

Boys’ Golf

The first week of the season didn’t start well for the Little Green on the links, with Central recording 247 strokes on Wednesday, not enough to match Timberlane’s 213.

Memorial’s results on Wednesday were more mixed, as their 231 strokes were better than the 241 of host Winnacunnet, but not better than the combined 223 strokes in total from Nashua North.

Boys’ Soccer

Friday night is generally the domain of football in the mind of high school sports fans, but the Friday before opening night still held another type of football in the Queen City.

Central and West recorded 4-3 and 1-0 victories against Bedford and Milford respectively while Memorial fell by a goal to Nashua South, as did Trinity in their first contest against Goffstown.

Girls’ Soccer

While the boys were on the road, the girls began their season at home, excluding Derryfield’s 3-4 road loss to Raymond.

Manchester’s other four high school girls’ soccer varsity teams lost as well, with Memorial (1-0 to Nashua South), West (9-0 to Milford) and Trinity (1-0 to Goffstown) falling on Friday and Central couldn’t extend their halftime lead, losing on 2-1 on Saturday to Bedford.
