Hey, Manchester sports fans! Bummed out about the end of the Red Sox season yesterday? Don’t worry, there’s still plenty of sports.

Here’s the docket for today, Oct. 10, 2017.

Manchester Monarchs

Hockey returns to the Queen City on Oct. 18 as the Monarchs face the Worcester Railers, the New York Islanders’ ECHL affiliate.

Manchester swept the Railers in a home-and-home exhibition series last week, and will begin their regular season with a trip to Worcester on Saturday followed by a Sunday matinee in Ontario against the Brampton Beast.

The Monarchs will seek to improve on their 85-point total from last season, which ended one win short of a trip to the Kelly Cup finals.

Down in Boston

The Bruins head to Denver tomorrow for the second part of a home-and-home series against the Colorado Avalanche following a difficult 4-0 loss against Colorado yesterday.

The Celtics face Charlotte tomorrow on the road in their final pre-season game, that can be seen in Manchester on NBC Sports (Channel 52).

Local High Schools

It’s Division II rivalry day in Manchester as Trinity faces West in boys’ and girls’ soccer action.

Central, Memorial and Derryfield face Salem, Londonderry and Kennett respectively in field hockey and they face Merrimack, Concord and Hopkinton respectively in girls’ soccer.

In girls’ volleyball, Central hosts Merrimack, Memorial hosts Concord and Trinity hosts Mascenic.

The boys’ soccer games, and field hockey games are scheduled to start at 4 p.m., as is the Derryfield girls’ soccer game.

All of the other girls’ soccer games are scheduled for 6, excluding Central, which is set for 6:30.

The girls’ volleyball contests begin at 5:15, except for Trinity, which begins at 6:15.
