MANCHESTER, NH – Sam’s Club on John Devine Drive will be closing for good Aug. 18, according to a company spokesperson who on Wednesday confirmed that 130 employees will be affected by the decision.

A prepared statement was issued Wednesday morning:

“After a careful and thoughtful review process, we’ve made the difficult but important decision to close our Manchester, New Hampshire, Sam’s Club location effective Aug. 18, 2017. We continually review our company portfolio to make sure we are best positioned to achieve our long-term strategy. We are grateful to our members and the community who have given us the privilege of serving them.”

As of its 2017 Annual Report. Walmart New Hampshire holdings included 31 stores – 19 superstores, 8 discount stores and 4 Sam’s Clubs. Walmart President and CEO Mark McMillon said in his message to shareholders that, …”We’ll invest in our core business with store remodels, technology and customer initiatives like online grocery and pickup, while at the same time being open to divest non-core assets if it’s in our best interest.”
