MANCHESTER, NH The Manchester Police Athletic League recently received a $5,000 grant from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation and Associated Grocers of New England to provide cooking classes, nutrition education, and support for the MPAL ambassador program.

“MPAL is thrilled that the funds from this joint grant allow us to provide nutrition education as well as food and kitchen safety to our underprivileged population in Greater Manchester,” said Jayna Stevens, Director of Operations and Development, Manchester Police Athletic League (MPAL).  “In addition, youth are given the opportunity to practice their new knowledge and skills during meal prep in our commercial kitchen. Through our Cooking, Nutrition and Ambassador programs, MPAL is teaching valuable life skills that will impact food choices for youth now and in the future.  Sharing a meal with Manchester Police Officers provides a powerful vehicle for barriers to break down and relationships to build up.  We are so grateful to Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation and Associated Grocers for their partnership.  Together we are making a difference.”
