MANCHESTER, NH — On January 18, 2017 at approximately 10 p.m., officers from the Hooksett Police Department were on Silver Avenue investigating a burglary. Officer Michael Carpentier observed a man exit the driver’s seat of a parked car, later identified as John Quinn, 61, of Manchester.

Quinn approached the officers on scene and engaged them in a conversation. It was apparent to police that Quinn was intoxicated and he was asked to submit to a voluntary field sobriety test. Quinn refused, and he was placed under arrest by Officer Carpentier.

Quinn was brought back to the Hooksett Police Department for booking. While being searched in the booking room, two small plastic bags of white powder were found in Quinn’s possession. Quinn placed the bags in his mouth in an attempt to swallow them. Officer Carpentier was able to remove the bags before they were swallowed. Quinn was charged with DWI, operating without a valid license, possession of a controlled drug, transportation of a controlled drug and falsifying physical evidence.

Quinn was released on $15,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in the Merrimack Superior Court on February 6, 2017.
