MANCHESTER, NH – This fall marks the Manchester Choral Society’s 58th Season. We look forward to another successful season beginning with our Holiday Pops Concerts in December at St. Joe’s Cathedral in Manchester, and at a new venue, LaBelle Winery in Amherst. Spring 2019 will feature works such as William Grant Still’s “Those Who Wait,” R. Nathanial Dett’s, “The Chariot Jubilee” and Kirke Mechem’s “Songs of the Slave.” Both of these programs are sure to be entertaining, moving and inspiring for our singers and audience alike. All interested singers from high school and beyond are welcome to attend our first open rehearsal on Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Manchester Community Music School (2291 Elm Street, Manchester, NH) from 7-9:15 p.m. Please join us!

The Manchester Choral Society is a non-profit auditioned community chorus established in 1961. MCS is committed to sharing and promoting the best in choral music of a variety of styles and periods through vibrant performance, collaboration, and educational and community outreach. Concerts are offered several times a year under the musical direction of Dr. Dan Perkins, who has served over two decades as Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Plymouth State University. Under Dr. Perkins’ leadership, MCS works through the music holistically, going beyond the notes on the page and digging into the deeper meaning and messages the music conveys, providing a richer musical experience for the singers. Dr. Perkins is also Music Director of the New Hampshire Master Chorale, and New Hampshire Friendship Chorus. Along with major performances twice a year, MCS kicks off the holiday season in early December with its annual tradition, “Caroling at the Currier.”
